What is econChat?
econChat is a dedicated messaging space for (mostly) Econ department people, in order to keep work conversations separate from personal chats. Because it runs on Matrix, an open protocol, external collaborators can be easily added to conversations: Anyone with a Matrix account anywhere can join your rooms directly.
The apps you use to read and write messages — like Element or FluffyChat — are called clients. They connect to the econChat server on your behalf, but your messages live on the server itself (which is run by Max and Simon).
